KANDA MYOJIN
A power spot in the heart of the city with over 1,300 years of history
Kanda Myojin, officially called "Kanda Shrine," is the deity of 108 town councils in Kanda, Nihonbashi,
Akihabara, Otemarunouchi, the former Kanda Market, and the Toyosu Fish Market.
The deity is enshrined as Daikoku-sama (Prince Ohonamuchi),
Ebisu-sama (Prince Sukuna-Hikono-no-mikoto), and Masakado-sama (Prince Taira-no-Masakado).
The shrine was originally built in 730 by Makandaomi, a member of the Izumo clan, in Otemachi,
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (around Shomonzuka). After the Edo shogunate was established,
the shrine was moved to its current location in 1616 (Genna 2),
which is the site of the guardianship of the front gate of Edo Castle.
In the Meiji era (1868-1912), the name of the shrine was changed from "Kanda Myojin" to "Kanda Shrine.
In addition to the shrine's many blessings, such as "match-making," "business prosperity,"
"good health," "good luck," and "protection from disaster,"
it is also an encouraging place for digital-related prayers, such as "IT protection" and "DX Prayer Festival.
In May, the Kanda Festival, known as the "Tenka Matsuri," is held and broadcast live on the Internet, which is rare for a shrine.
